For businesses with 2–50 employees

Group Health Insurance

You don't have an HR department — that's the point of us. We design the plan, run enrollment, keep you ACA-compliant and re-shop the market every renewal, so offering benefits feels less like a second job.

Why offer benefits

What a good group plan buys you

Keep the people you trained

Health benefits are the retention lever small teams actually feel — often the difference between an offer accepted and an offer lost.

Real tax advantages

Premiums are generally a deductible business expense, employees can pay their share pre-tax, and some small employers qualify for federal credits. We’ll check which apply to you.

Benefits people use

Dental and vision add-ons cost little and get used constantly. A plan your team understands beats a rich plan they don’t.

ACA compliance, handled

Participation rules, waiting periods, required notices — we keep the paperwork straight so it never lands on your desk.

How it works

From census to covered in three steps

1
Send us a census

A simple list — ages, ZIPs, family status. No commitments, no meetings required.

2
See real options

Two or three plan designs modeled against your budget, across major carriers, with contribution strategies compared.

3
We run it year-round

Enrollment, new hires, terminations, renewals, claims questions — your team calls us, not a carrier hotline.

I'm a small business owner and don't have an HR department. Matt and the folks at BBS Insurance assisted me thru the entire process and made the transition on my benefits package seamless. I'd work with them 100x over. They are the experts.

What employers ask us

Group health FAQ

Are we required to offer health insurance?
With fewer than 50 full-time-equivalent employees: no. At 50 or more, federal employer-responsibility rules kick in. Most of our group clients are under 50 and offer coverage anyway — because it keeps good people.
What does group coverage cost a business our size?
It depends on your team’s ages, locations and the plan design — which is why we model two or three options against your actual budget instead of quoting averages. Employers typically share the premium with employees, and the split is yours to set.
Are there tax advantages?
Generally yes: premiums are a deductible business expense, and employees can pay their share pre-tax through a Section 125 plan. Some smaller employers also qualify for the federal small-business health care tax credit — we’ll check.
How many employees do we need?
Group plans generally start at two enrolled employees, and carriers set minimum-participation rules. If some of your team stays on a spouse’s plan, that usually still counts toward participation — we’ll do the math.
Can we add dental and vision?
Yes, and you probably should: they’re inexpensive riders and consistently the most-used benefits. We’ll price them alongside every medical option.
What happens after we enroll?
We stay your benefits department: onboarding new hires, removing departures, answering employee claims questions, and re-shopping the market at every renewal so the plan never quietly drifts overpriced.

Benefits your team feels. Paperwork you never see.

Send a census and get real options within days — modeled for your budget, at no cost to your business.
